Why Bournville
About us
We are a values-led charitable trust working to create and sustain communities where people can thrive.
We manage environmentally sustainable estates, provide great homes and we deliver community support services that help people live successful and healthy lives. We also plough surplus from commercial activities back into our neighbourhoods.
We are proud to be one of the Midland’s longest serving independent charitable trusts. We work across south and central Birmingham and Telford providing a range of services that include:
Estates and stewardship services that create and sustain thriving, well-designed and connected neighbourhoods that are well managed and sustainable.
Community building and championing people services that connect people and organisations together to develop diverse, strong and engaged communities and deliver support services to help all people thrive.
Social and affordable housing that provides safe and sustainable homes that meet people’s needs and aspirations, now and in the future.
Heritage services that aim to share our experience to inspire others and see us listening and learning from those around us.
Commercial services that generate durable, reinvestable income and shape the commercial character of the places BVT stewards.
Agricultural services that apply the principles of BVT stewardship to the management of 2,500 acres of farmland on Birmingham’s southern boundary.
Corporate services that build a strong, focussed and resilient organisation, driven by our values.

Celebration Bournville
Bournville village centre is the heart of the model village George Cadbury began building in 1879, and one of the most recognisable places of its kind anywhere in the world. It is also a village centre facing the same pressures as many others: buildings that need investment, uses that have changed, and connections between assets that could work much harder for the community and the local economy.
Celebration Bournville is our response. It is a heritage-led regeneration programme, developed by BVT in partnership with Mondelez International, which owns the Cadbury factory site and a number of the heritage assets around it. The programme is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, which is funding the current feasibility and programme-definition phase.
The purpose of this phase is to arrive at a clear vision and design principles for the village centre, and from that a prioritised, phased pipeline of capital projects that can attract substantial heritage and other investment in the years that follow. Community engagement is central to it. Bournville residents, traders and community organisations hold strong and varied views, and the programme is being shaped with them rather than presented to them.
For the successful candidate, this is a flagship opportunity with real complexity behind it: a shared programme with a major corporate partner, a demanding funder, listed and locally significant buildings, and a community that cares deeply about the outcome.
The director will lead BVT's role in taking the programme from definition into investment and delivery, deciding where BVT should lead, where it should partner, and how heritage, commercial vitality and community benefit are held in balance.
